BhutanHappy

A cultural exchange, one conversation at a time

Talk with someone in Bhutan. Really talk.

BhutanHappy connects you with a named, credited guide in Bhutan for scheduled 30-minute video conversations. No itinerary, no agenda to sell you — just a real person sharing how life, family, work, and contentment look from where they live.

What this is — and what it is not

It is a conversation

A scheduled, unhurried half hour with the same guide each week if you want continuity — or different guides, to hear more of Bhutan’s perspectives. You bring your curiosity; your guide brings their life.

It is not counseling

Guides are cultural hosts, not clinicians, and conversations are not a substitute for professional mental-health care. If a conversation ever touches on a crisis, we bring in a licensed clinician — that path is built into the service.

It is not tourism

We don’t sell trips, treks, or packages. Nothing here books travel to Bhutan. This is an exchange between people, not a product about a place.

Bhutan measures its progress by Gross National Happiness — a national achievement that belongs to Bhutan and its people. BhutanHappy is an independent service and is not affiliated with the Royal Government of Bhutan or the GNH Commission; we have asked for the opportunity to work with Bhutanese institutions, and any association is pending their permission.

How it works

  1. Meet your guide

Tell us what draws you here. We’ll suggest guides whose interests and availability fit yours — or browse and choose for yourself.

  2. Schedule a conversation

Pick a 30-minute slot that works in both time zones. Bhutan mornings line up well with American evenings.

  3. Talk, weekly

Structured topics if you want them — daily life, family and community, Buddhist practice in lay life, nature and rural living — or simply let the conversation go where it goes.

Our commitments to guides

Guides are the hosts and experts here. These aren’t features — they’re commitments.

  • Named and credited

Every guide appears under their real name, with a profile in their own words. No anonymous guiding, ever.

  • Paid fairly

$8.00 per 30-minute conversation, paid for no-shows too, with every fee shown before a booking is accepted. No hidden deductions.

  • Free to step back

A guide can hand any client on to another guide at any time, for any reason, with zero penalty — structurally guaranteed.

Simple pricing
